I Cannot Forget the Busan Eel

Even the bones and heads are grilled and the customers eat out the tiny morsels encasing the spine.

Koreans are known to be lovers of eels. In fact, quite a number of restaurants in Seoul are specializing in serving only eels for their customers. But nothing prepared me for the Busan eel.

I have tried several eel meals in Seoul and I have to admit that most of them are tops in terms of savory and dining experience. However, my conclusion after the first bite of the Busan eel was almost instantaneous - that it must be the best eel I’ve tasted in my life! And I also have to sheepishly admit that it might even be better than the Japanese eel that I always crave for. But no, I have to draw the line, those two eels are different. Must not compare them….

Busan is already legendary in terms of having some of the best seafoods and dining experiences in South Korea. And I would not be surprised if the area’s food fame is multiplied by the grilled eel.

The freshness was undeniable. The bite, almost buttery and the smokiness, fully complementing the dining exposure in this part of the world. Me and my companions could not help saying how delicious it is every time we take a bite.

And to think that the place is not a fancy restaurant or a michelin-explored dining place. It is just one of the local restaurants dotting the Songdo Beach where the mere sight of open windows, vacant tables and living sea creatures in aquariums can make you stop and make your tummy happy.

I’m sure that there are many more restaurants in Busan that can make their seafood-seeking diners happy. No, very happy!

Now, my only problem after having tasted the Busan eel is how can i eat the same quality of food in any other place?
