Going to a particular site in Seoul, i decided to take a scenic route called Seoullo 7017. It’s a former flyover that was supposed to be torn down, but the local executives decided to keep it instead and convert it into a garden and pedestrian walkway..

I have walked over this really impressive and inspiring landmark. Took photos of its trees, the pianos that anyone can play, and the busy streets of Seoul below.

I took the shot below, showing the scientific name of the plant. And i was admittedly green with envy. That i hope to see something similar in the Philippines. Like…. how could you imagine seeing a full-grown pine tree in a large pot?

I was about done with my usual tourist mode and continued my leisurely walk.

But something a bit familiar caught my attention. It was not prominently placed, and actually looked like part of the usually ignored patch of grass. But they turned out to be…..

Pitcher Plants!!
Like…. what are the odds of finding these carnivorous plants, largely ignored, in the middle of the city?!

I was amazed and happy at the same time for finding these “treasures” that i had been passing by.

Again, i was ready to call it a day. But…. less than a foot from the pitcher plants are other mind-boggling (well, to me) patch of living organisms.

Venus Fly Traps!! Like… this was too much!

They are so tiny that you would not notice them until you’re nose is only inches away from those spikes.

Oh, wait! There was actually one more that I discovered when I came back on another day. — Sundews!
They’re much smaller than the venus fly traps, almost microscopic and I had to use a macro lens to get a decent shot of the plant.

What a nice find by accident! Just proves that you can still find something new or interesting to places that are already familiar to you.
