Cat on a Tree - My birdwatching turned cat-watching trip

Let’s start with this amazing photo. Try to spot the cat.

So even in the middle of winter season in Korea, I willed myself to go out on a birdwatching and photography activity in the Olympic Park in Seoul. There were the usual magpies and brown-eared bulbuls that I did not bother stopping for because I already have a lot of photos of them. It was a sorry day as there were hardly any other bird species in the area. I thought that I would go home frustrated.

But the next species that I encountered made my trip worth it!

Up there, in the jumble of all those branches is a lurking cat that sits silently like a bird!

Yup! That’s him/her! I laughed while looking at the cat. So did the other people behind me who got curious at what I was looking and laughing at.

But it was dead serious. We locked eyes and he tried to control my mind to leave him/her be.

But I wasn’t done with it yet. Just one more shot to prove that this cat-bird species actually exists.

And we played some peek-a-boo!

From now on, I guess I have to include cats as probable perched species that could be encountered on a birdwatching trip. :-)
