What I Think of the Japan Guidebook
If I am to be asked what would be the best Japan guidebook that I can recommend, it will be this one published by the Lonely Planet.
I have been reading travel guidebooks for different countries since the ‘90s and I can say, from a travel researcher’s viewpoint, that Lonely Planet’s credibility is somewhere up there.
What makes this a dependable Japan guidebook?
Written by actual travel writers
When you start reading this guidebook, you will see that the articles and travel tips are written by actual travelers who personally went and experienced the tourist attractions and even “secret” places enjoyed by locals. Writing about places without visiting them is very hard to accomplish. People will quickly realize that a travel article is written by a desktop traveler and the credibility is immediately flushed down the drain.
Simplicity of stories
A lonely planet guidebook is a very easy read. There are few words that only snobbish intellectuals could understand. And the story-telling is immersive, that more often, you are pulled into the pages and would feel like you are in the place described by the author.
Practical Travel Tips
If you are into DIY travel, you will find this guidebook most useful. You will save money, time and stress that should make your travel more rewarding.
